A New Year

We had our first housewarming-cum-Christmas gathering on 28 December with a few friends and did our part of sharing the gospel with our friends as part of the My Hope Singapore project. It was a wonderful experience and I certainly enjoyed playing host for a dinner party.

Then came New Year's Eve where Cheryl and I decided to celebrate it with a quiet cosy dinner between the three of us. At the last minute Chris invited his friend Kheh over since it was his birthday that last day of the year.

So Cheryl and I cooked Vongole and Aglio Olio together and it was really fun though hot and tiring. We spent a couple of hours in the afternoon watching the romantic comedy (my fave movie) 'Only You' starring Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

The dinner started late, maybe about 8pm, but it was very filling. It was the first time we cooked so so many people so the cooking wasn't as good in particular, the aglio olio which I had handled. It could use more oil and salt! But it was still okay.

We surprised Kheh with a measely cake which he was very surprised to see. We even made him sing his own birthday song which he did without any hesitation. After that, we brought out the real birthday cake... all these done only a few minutes before midnight!

Then we spent the next ten minutes watching the sky light up with brilliant fireworks right outside our kitchen window, from Mount Faber AND Sentosa. It was like watching a fireworks competition and all who benefited were the audience ourselves.

And that was our nice and quiet New Year's Eve!
